Miamisburg’s Turkey Trot: What to know about running this year

Thousands of people will descend on downtown Miamisburg next week for a decades-long Thanksgiving tradition, and time is running out to reserve a spot to join.

The 39th annual Turkey Trot — featuring a five-mile run and one-mile fun walk/run — starts at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving Day) at the intersection of Main Street and Linden Avenue.

It has become the Ohio River Road Runners Club’s biggest event of the year, drawing more than 9,000 participants last year to downtown Miamisburg, according to organizers.

The deadline to register online is midnight Friday on the runners club website. Registration is also available at the expo and packet pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 22, the day prior to the event, according to the website.

The expo and packet pickup will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Riverfront Park, 3 N. Miami Ave. in downtown Miamisburg near the Great Miami River. There will be no registration the day of the event, according to the website.

The fee for five-mile event is $35 and $30 for those age 14 and under. The fee for the one-mile event is $25.
