At about 1:55 p.m. Thursday, the U.S. Bank on North Main Street in Monroe, just a few blocks from the police station, was robbed by a man who displayed a gun, demanded money, and then fled with the cash, according to Monroe Police.

About an hour later, a man robbed the New Horizons Credit Union on East Forest Avenue in South Lebanon. The robber, wearing a dark hoodie and ski mask, entered the building at about 2:43 p.m., demanded cash, and fled with a large amount of money in a bag, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. John Faine of the sheriff’s office said detectives from Warren County did contact Monroe police shortly after the robbery to determine if there was a connection, but further investigation determined the suspects are not the same person.

“We have video of our guy casing the bank at the same time the Monroe (robbery) happened,” Faine said.

Both law enforcement agencies say detectives are continuing to investigate the robberies.

The subject from the Monroe bank robbery fled on foot, and a Butler County Sheriff’s Office dog searched the area and tracked the scent to Ohio Avenue, where it was lost, police said. He may have gotten into a vehicle parked near the bank, according to police.

Monroe police described the suspect as a white man wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and a face covering. Anyone with information should call police at 513-360-2206.

The Warren County suspect is described as a white man, standing 6 feet, 2 inches, with a thin build and blue eyes. Anyone with information should call Lt. John Faine at 513-695-1522.
