Carson said his experience growing up and Obama’s were “night-and-day different.”
Carson made the comments during an interview with POLITICO's Off Message podcast on Tuesday. You can listen to it here.
“He’s an ‘African’ American. He was, you know, raised white,” Carson said.
“Like most Americans, I was proud that we broke the color barrier when he was elected, but … he didn’t grow up like I grew up … Many of his formative years were spent in Indonesia.”
Carson, who was raised by a single mother in Detroit who worked multiple jobs, implied that he knows the struggle of Black Americans more than Obama.
