Fitness trainer says she was shamed for dress worn to wedding

A fitness trainer said she was body shamed when she wore a short, tight body con dress to a wedding reception in Minneapolis in late June.

Liz Krueger decided to wear the dress after not wearing it for a while.

"The dress is made of a really thick, soft material and it's not transparent," she told "Today."

"Someone spilled a beer down my arm and there was no apology given," Krueger told "Us Weekly." "Not sure if it was intentional, but it was done. The looks and stares continued after that, and I felt so unwelcome and embarrassed."

Krueger told "Today" she was invited to the reception and not the wedding itself by a friend and former college roommate. She said people wore jeans and baseball caps to the reception and that she was not the only person there dressed casually.

"It wasn’t like I was attending a black-tie affair in this dress," she said.

What upset Krueger was behavior by another guest at the reception.

Krueger told "Today" a guest slapped her on the behind after being dared by friends.

"You're a target," the woman, whom Krueger said appeared to be drunk, told her.

Upset, Kruger called her husband, Dan Krueger, to pick her up.

After the reception, party-goers posted to social media, saying Kruger's dress was inappropriate.

In response, she started the hashtag #KruegerKindess.

"I'm a strong person and I want to use this for the greater good. Harassment and bullying take place against all ages," she said. "We promote empowerment in (me and my husband's) fitness business, urging people to be comfortable in their own skin and to be healthy and positive."

Krueger hopes the movement will lead women to do good things for other women every day.
