"I usually just go out with my ID, debit card, and lip gloss in my jacket pocket," Egan told BuzzFeed. "No purse, no wallet. Bad habit," she said.

PIX 11 reported that the Columbia master's program graduate lost her ID last year when she was out in New York. She ordered a new one and moved on.

A year later, she got her ID back in the mail with no return address. Inside the envelope was a thank you card with an anonymous note. Whoever got hold of her ID used it to get into clubs and bars until she turned 21.

"Found this on the floor of a bar about a year ago," the card read. "Hope you don't mind I used it for awhile. But now I'm 21 so you can have it back! Thanks!"

It was signed with a smilie face and a heart.

"When the ID slipped out I was confused, because I had forgotten about the situation," Egan told PIX11. "I thought for a second that I might have been pranked, but after asking around I put the pieces together."

Egan posted a photo of the note on Facebook Thursday.

Egan said she will use her old ID as a backup. "I hope this mystery girl enjoyed her time as Christina, I only wish she would have sent the $10 it took to replace," she told BuzzFeed News. "Just kidding…kinda."
