Woman says Florida cop groped her, cracked her tooth during traffic stop

A Florida woman claims a police officer touched her inappropriately after she got pulled over for a ticket in November.

That woman spoke only to Action News Jax after filing a complaint with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Department.

"It seemed like a routine traffic stop," Angel Johnson said. "I didn't think twice about it."

Now, Johnson said she can’t stop thinking about Nov. 18, the night she was pulled over by a JSO officer.

"He basically told me if I didn't get out of the car to sign the ticket that he would mess me up," Johnson said.

Johnson said she was pulled over after failing to yield at a red light before turning right.

According to a JSO incident report, the officer smelled marijuana and asked Johnson to get out so he could search the vehicle.

But Johnson said she was told to get out of her vehicle to sign the traffic citation.

"At that point, I’m scared," Johnson said. "I get out of the car, but as I’m getting out of the car, he's grabbing my arm."

That’s when she said she was handcuffed. She said the officer got aggressive.

"Slams my mouth into the car door and splits my lip and cracked my tooth," Johnson said.

As Johnson was walking to the patrol car, she said she asked if she could pull up her falling pants.

"He just ignores me and he says he'll do it," Johnson said. "And his fingers touched my vagina. At that point I dropped on the side of the car and start screaming."

Action News Jax got a copy of the complaint that she filed with Internal Affairs.

"I don't think it's fair that I had this done to me and he's still able to go patrol the streets," Johnson said.

A spokesperson for JSO said it violates the law to confirm any internal complaint or contents prior to it being investigated, per statute 112.533.

The spokesperson did confirm that the officer is a current employee assigned to patrol Zone 5.
