Jacob Thompson was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma in Feb. 2014 at just 5 years old, WCSH reports. He's currently at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

Jacob is now 9, and his family says his time is limited.

According to the family's GoFundMe page, doctors have told the family to start making arrangements for Jacob's passing. They're planning on celebrating the holidays early this year, while Jacob still can.

They’re asking the community to send holiday cards to Jacob.

“Just to show that people love and care for him, show their support. Any way to brighten his day, it would be a great benefit to him,” said Roger Guay, Jacob’s father.

Guay said Jacob loves Christmas.

The family plans to decorate Jacob's hospital room with a Christmas tree, Christmas lights and fake snow, WUSA reported. A Santa Claus will be present as well.

Cards can be sent to:

22 Bramhall Street
Portland, Maine
04102

The family also started a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral costs and medical expenses. If you would like to donate, click here.
