9-year-old injured in San Bernardino elementary school shooting ‘recovering well’

Days after Cedric Anderson entered a classroom at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino, California, and fatally shot his estranged wife, 53-year-old special education teacher Karen Elaine Smith, one of the two students he shot is recovering.

KNBC reported that 9-year-old Nolan Brandy is in "good spirits," according to his parents, Leon and Rachel Brandy.

Nolan and Jonathan Martinez, 8, were both shot by 53-year-old Anderson's gunfire before Anderson shot and killed himself in the murder-suicide. Jonathan died from his injuries hours after the shooting.

Nolan was initially in critical condition, but has since stabilized and is on the road to recovery.

KABC reported that the San Bernardino City Unified School District posted a photo on Facebook of Nolan with his parents and included an update on his recovery.

“Please continue to pray for him and also for Jonathan Martinez’s and Karen Smith's families,” Nolan’s family said.
