The new pub is owned by three couples with deep ties to Huber Heights: Dan Ryan and his wife Holly Weatherhead, Jerome and Sally Yount, and Joe and Stephanie Yount, according to Ryan.
“We see it as a great opportunity for Huber Heights,” Ryan said of purchasing the business. Kenneth Hattan, president of Acquisition Services Inc., represented both the seller, Julie Green, and the buyers in the transaction.
The purchase was completed June 1. The new owners shut down Bootlegger’s Tavern the following day for a re-branding and month-long makeover to the 3,200-square-foot space. Improvements included adding eight flat-screen televisions and a draft beer system with 10 taps, Ryan said. The previous tavern offered beer in bottles only.
The kitchen is not yet open, but that project is next on the to-do list, the Brick Tap co-owner said.
The new pub offers live music on the weekends, embracing a tradition for the space that dates back to the 1970s, Ryan said.
Friday night’s opening night was a success, Ryan said, and the new pub is now open daily, starting at 3 p.m. on weekdays and earlier on weekends. Hours may expand in the near future.
