5 new Butler County businesses include brewery, doughnut shop

Butler County is awash with new businesses. Here’s a look at what’s coming and what has recently opened:

1. NORTH SECOND TAP AND BOTTLE SHOP

This new craft beer taproom opened Saturday at 134 N. 2nd St. in Hamilton.

North Second Tap and Bottle Shop offers 10 taps of craft beer on a rotating basis, as well as four taps of wine — two red wines and two white wines, according to owner Dan Connaughton.

Bring-your-own growler fills also are available, Connaughton said.

Regular hours are 3 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays; 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays; and noon to 1 a.m. Saturdays.

2. GRAINWORKS BREWING COMPANY

Butler County’s newest brewery is set to open early next month, according to its owners.

Grainworks Brewing Company, 7790 Service Center Drive in West Chester Twp., is the work of Steven Brock, Brian McGinnis and Anthony Russell, all of Liberty Twp.

A grand opening celebration from 11 a.m. until midnight Sept. 9 will feature six to eight different beers on tap for the festivities, including flagship beers Haybale ESB, Scottish MISTS Scottish Ale and Killjoy Porter.

Located just off Cox Road near Voice of America MetroPark, amenities for the child-friendly business include a tap room, brewery tours, beer to go, outdoor seating and live music.

3. THE DONUT HOUSE

Butler County, which has dozens of options for a sweet taste treat, is set to get another.

The Donut House, a family-owned-and-operated shop specializing in freshly made, hand-cut doughnuts, is scheduled to open in September at 8268 Princeton-Glendale Road in West Chester Twp. in the former Sushi Monk storefront.

Sushi Monk moved to a new, larger location in January.

Located on the corner of Ohio 747 and Smith Road, the store’s products will be made fresh in-house everyday — from cake-style to yeast-raised doughnuts with the option for customers to fill them as they order, according to the business.

4. BENTLEY’S PET STUFF

A pet products chain offering nutritional and holistic options for pet owners is expanding in southwest Ohio, including locations in Butler and Warren counties.

Bentley’s Pet Stuff is set to open as many as six locations in the Cincinnati area and up to five in the Dayton area, said spokeswoman Christine Bachman.

“Spring 2018 we will be opening a bunch — Hamilton, Mason, Blue Ash, Milford, Northgate, to name a few,” Bachman said.

Bentley’s Pet Stuff opened a West Chester Twp. location earlier this year.

5. SANDWICH CAFÉ

Sandwich Café opened in July at 5574 Eureka Drive in Fairfield Twp., just off Ohio 4 and west of the Liberty-Fairfield Road Kroger.

The restaurant offers various deli, bagel, panini and pita sandwiches, according to owner Melissa Portillo, of Fairfield.

Portillo, a former Middletown City Schools nurse, said she wanted to start a family business to operate with the rest of her family, including her older daughter, who is in college.

Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. For more information, visit www.Facebook.com/sandwichcafe100.
