Basil’s on Market is currently on schedule to open on July 25, pending the inspections that all restaurants must pass before serving customers, restaurant co-founder Todd Uhlir said this morning, July 7. The downtown Dayton Basil’s is on the ground floor of a building that holds a PNC Bank regional headquarters at 312 N. Patterson Blvd. at East Monument Avenue, overlooking the Great Miami River.

The building is part of the fast-developing Water Street project, which also includes commercial and residential space.

Basil’s on Market will seat 150 to 160 in the 4,800-square-foot restaurant, and another 120 or so on a 2,200-square-foot patio overlooking the river and its fountains. It will open with 60 to 65 employees. The bistro’s bar will have 20 taps devoted to craft beers, many of them from Dayton-area breweries, Uhlir said.

Basil’s on Market operates a restaurant-pub in Troy that opened in 2014. Uhlir — who served as executive chef at the Troy Country Club for nine years prior to launching the Troy restaurant — has said plans call for expanding the Basil’s on Market concept to more locations in Ohio and potentially beyond.
