New sports bar coming to Kettering

The Wright Wing also has plans to double seating capacity of its Fairborn location

A Fairborn sports bar is gearing up to open a second location in Kettering while also seeking to double the seating capacity of its existing pub.

The Wright Wing, which opened in March 2014 at 1864 Colonel Glenn Highway, has applied for a liquor license and is renovating the former Buckin' Donkey Grill at 3808 Wilmington Pike in Kettering. If all goes well with obtaining the license, Kettering's newest sports bar could open as early as the first week of June, Kevin Terrell, owner of The Wright Wing, said this morning.

And Terrell said he is finalizing plans to submit to the city of Fairborn that will double the seating capacity of the existing Wright Wing from 36 to 72. Plans call for building a 600-square-foot addition to the existing 1,200-square-foot sports bar.

Terrell said the Fairborn location has done well, but he is looking forward to adding the second location, with the greater vehicle traffic and visibility along Wilmington Pike. The space previously housed the Sports Deck and Monkeez Sports Bar before the Buckin’ Donkey opened there in March 2012. It shut down two months ago after three years in business.

The Wright Wing’s menu will focus on wings and pizza, which Terrell said “are our staples,” and will also offer burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. A 10-tap draft beer system is being installed, the bar’s owner said.

Terrell said he is in the process of hiring servers, bartenders, and cooks. Applications are being taken at both the Fairborn and Kettering locations, he said.
