DAYTON —

A standoff that lasted several hours Friday ended after SWAT members surrounded a house on Helena Street after getting reports that a suspected shooter fled there.

The SWAT team made several attempts to contact the suspect but were unsuccessful at finding him inside.

Officials said they have been able to make contact with the suspect via the telephone and the investigation is continuing.

The suspect is wanted in a shooting at Main and Pioneer Streets that occurred around 8 a.m. after a fight about a woman, officials said.

The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury.

Officials believe the suspect may have escaped from the rear of the Helena Street home at some point.

The suspect has been asked to turn himself in, according to police.

As of 2:30 p.m. Friday no names of those involved were released.
