DAYTON —

Police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital Monday morning.

Around 6:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to the area of 3406 East Third Street on the report of a shooting. The shooting reportedly occurred in an alley behind a Shell station.

A man was found lying inside the service station with a gunshot wound to the arm and torso. The bullet reportedly went through his arm and into his chest.

According to a Dayton Police incident report, 28-year-old Christopher Evans said he was taking out the trash near his apartment on Sperling Avenue when he was shot. He said the shooter didn’t say anything to him. He was described as a white male wearing a mask and a red and white thermal coat.

Evans was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. His condition was not available Monday morning.
