MORAINE —

Two adults and a 3-year-old boy were injured in a crash Friday afternoon when the vehicle they were in rolled down a steep embankment on Interstate 75.

The exit to Springboro Pike remained closed for several hours as emergency crews and Moraine police responded to the crash, at 2:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75.

Police said the Chevrolet Blazer, the adults and child were in, was in the center lane when it suddenly veered right, clipped another vehicle and went over the guardrail.

It landed on a hillside near the business Boral Brick Direct, 2300 Arbor Blvd.

Two witnesses told News Center 7 they were there before emergency crews arrived.

Justin McCarroll, who works at a nearby welding shop, said he heard the crash and hopped the fence. He said he found the female driver injured and bleeding about 30 feet from the wreckage. Authorities said she was thrown from the vehicle.

Ronda Wilson, who was walking her dog nearby, heard the crash and saw what happened. She went to the aid of the child in the back seat.

The boy appeared to be in shock but OK, said Wilson, who wrapped the child in a blanket until crews arrived.

The male in the backseat was wearing a seat belt but he was also injured. The adults were taken to Miami Valley Hospital and the child was taken to Dayton Children’s Medical Center.

Their conditions and identities were not released.

It was the second rollover crash within a few miles of each other on I-75 Friday. About 10 minutes earlier, emergency crews responded to a crash at the Stewart Street exit.

A pickup truck reportedly flipped several times and landed on its top. The driver was able to walk away from that crash without serious injuries.
