Alleged drug deal occurred in front of detective

Staff Report

DAYTON —

A man was arrested on suspicion of selling heroin after the alleged drug deal took place in front of an occupied, unmarked police car.

William Deon Baker, 41, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail and was scheduled to appear Friday afternoon in Dayton Municipal Court.

His arrest comes after a Dayton police detective was sitting in an unmarked police vehicle watching for potential drug activity in front of the Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers restaurant on South Jefferson Street, according to the police report.

The detective noticed Glenn D. Johnson of Brookville standing around and frequently looking south, as if he was waiting for a car to arrive, according to the report.

A shortly time later Baker arrived driving a Chrysler 300 and Johnson got inside for about three seconds, according to the report.

Johnson was later found to have a lump of heroin wrapped in aluminum foil in his pocket for which he admitted paying $20 and change, according to the report.

Baker was pulled over in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue with the assistance of Sinclair police; he denied the allegation, according to the report.
