Police were investigating a stolen gun from a vehicle, when an officer discovered a suspicious man walking in a parking lot in the 5800 block of Springboro Pike.

Officers stopped the man and performed a weapons pat down and during the search officers found a handgun in the man’s jacket pocket. The man began fighting with the officer and ran from on foot toward Cobblegate Drive.

A K-9 unit was dispatched to the area and attempted to locate the suspect, but so far police have not found the man. Officers said the suspect is a tall skinny black man between the ages of 17 and 20 years-old wearing a dark color jacket.

Police hope to review any surveillance or cruiser camera video to see if it will assist the department in the investigation.
