DAYTON, Ohio —

A woman was ejected from her vehicle when a speeding van smashed into her SUV after running a stop sign late Tuesday night, according to police.

The woman, who was the only person in the SUV, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with life threatening injuries, Dayton Sgt. John Riegel said.

Officers and emergency crews responded to the intersection of Tennyson and Otterbein avenues around 9:30 p.m. on a report of a crash. When crews arrived they found the woman and two other people lying on the ground.

The woman was driving west on Otterbein, when the van, which was travelling north on Tennyson, ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed, Riegel said. The collision sent the woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, flying from her Chevrolet Suburban.

The other two people injured at the scene were from the van, according to firefighters, but the severity of their injuries were not immediately available.

Police said they are still looking for the driver of the van, who is suspected of fleeing the scene following the crash. Right now police are not exactly sure how many people were in the van at the time of the crash, Riegel said.

The intersection of Otterbein and Tennyson was closed while crews investigated the crash.
