DAYTON —

A 6-year-old boy was injured Friday after being struck by a pickup truck that slid off the road.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at West Stewart Street and Clement Avenue.

Police said the child was walking on the sidewalk when a pickup truck traveling on Stewart lost control and went off the road, striking the child.

The boy was taken by life squad to Dayton Children’s Medical Center. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Police said the driver will be cited.

Stewart Street was slush covered and road conditions may have been a factor in the crash.
