BROOKVILLE —

Police found a red sweatshirt worn by a man who robbed the Brookville National Bank on Wednesday afternoon, but they haven’t found the robber.

A white male believed to be in his 30s walked into the bank, 225 W. Upper Lewisburg Salem Road, at about 5 p.m. and showed a teller a note, Brookville Capt. Tom Simon told News Center 7.

The teller followed the request and the robber, who was wearing the sweatshirt and a black hat, walked out with an undetermined amount of cash and headed toward a wooded area near Ridge Road and Interstate 70.

According to emergency police/radio dispatch communications, police believe the man was carrying the cash in a plastic shopping bag.

There was one customer in the bank, Simon said, but no one was hurt. No weapon was shown, the captain said.

A Montgomery County sheriff’s K-9 unit traced the man’s scent to an apartment complex behind the bank, where the sweatshirt was found, but the unit was not able to locate the man, Simon said.

Anyone with information concerning the robbery is asked to contact Brookville police at (937) 833-2001 or the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at (937) 225-4357 (HELP).
