The northbound lanes of Salem Avenue at Free Pike are open to traffic now, after what investigators said was two-vehicle crash that sent one person to a hospital.

The crash happened at about 6 p.m. Friday when a car headed west on Free Pike turned into the path of a large SUV on Salem, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The injuries were not believed to be life threatening, according to the OSP.

The driver of the car has been cited. Alcohol or drug use do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Sheika Gray, who lives in the area, called into the News Center 7 newsroom to report a significant backup in the area.

“On a scale of 1-10, I’d say this is an 8,” she said. “It’s not total destruction but it’s pretty bad.”
