DAYTON —

A tip about drugs being sold in a McDonald’s parking lot led police to a man found to be illegally hiding a gun in his vehicle Tuesday morning.

According to a Dayton police report, officers were dispatched at about 10 a.m. to the McDonald’s at 410 S. Main St. on a report of a man in a silver Chevy Tahoe selling drugs in the parking lot.

When police arrived, the driver quickly pulled away and was stopped on Fourth Street.

Police observed him moving around in the vehicle before he was removed and noted that his belt and pants were unbuckled. He said he undid them because he had been eating breakfast at McDonald’s, according to the report.

A K-9 sniffed the ehicle and alerted officers to presence of drugs, but upon searching the vehicle police did not find any narcotics.

They did find a 9mm handgun hidden behind a removable radio faceplate in the dash, about $2,300 in cash in different denominations and plastic sandwich baggies.

Kenneth Cunningham, 42, was arrested pending charges of carrying concealed weapons and having weapons as a felon. He has numerous felony convictions including four that involve carrying concealed weapons, according to the report.
