A 27-year-old man made his initial appearance in court Tuesday on charges accusing him of raping an 8-year-old more than five years ago.

Kevin Alredge was arrested by Dayton police in May after the girl, now 15, told her mother about multiple rapes.

The alleged abuse occurred in 2005 and 2006 when the girl was about 8 years old, according to police.

Alredge was living with victim’s mom at the time and had a child with her during the same time period.

The victim told her mother about the abuse in February. A Montgomery County grand jury in November indicted Alredge on one count of rape of a victim under 10 and one count of gross sexual imposition of a victim under 13.

Bond was set at $250,000. Alredge was not listed as an inmate in the county jail on Tuesday.
