MORAINE — A Moraine man was arrested on Monday on the suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography after he was investigated by the FBI and Moraine police.
Stephen Edward Kirby Jr., 29, is being held in the Shelby County Jail as part of a sealed federal warrant. He was arrested on the suspicion of owning, viewing or disseminating child pornography, according to Tim Ferguson of the Dayton FBI office.
According to the affidavit filed with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, on Dec. 23, an FBI special agent was working undercover in a private chat. A user — later accused of being Kirby — gave the undercover agent the password for shared files. The agent browsed through the files to note that a number of them depicted images or videos of child pornography.
The agent traced the user’s IP address to Kirby’s address at 3150 Charlotte Mill Road, according to the affidavit.
