Narcotics officers served two search warrants Wednesday night arresting two individuals and confiscating one gun and a small amount of drugs.

The first warrant was served at 437 W. Fairview Ave. at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police had gotten several tips about drug activity at the house and had identified 35-year-old Perry Thompson as a suspect.

According to a Dayton Police report, officers watching the duplex saw Thompson go in and out of the house several times and get into a purple Chevy Tahoe. They stopped the vehicle and detained three individuals inside before searching the house.

They located 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, cash and a revolver in the house, according to the report.

Thompson was arrested pending formal charges of possession of drugs and having weapons under disability, plus several traffic warrants. He has prior convictions for possession of cocaine.

The second warrant was served at an apartment building at 1321 Wheatley Ave. at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday.

When police entered, William J. Howard was sitting in a chair and acted like he was throwing something behind him, according to a police report. His brother, his father and his cousin were also in the apartment.

Howard’s brother had been the target of the search warrant for selling crack cocaine, according to the report. He admitted that he sells nickel and dime bags of marijuana but not crack and denied selling out of that apartment.

Officers found .10 grams of crack in the living room and William J. Howard admitted it was his for personal use. He was arrested for possession of drugs and several traffic warrants.
