Woman robbed of purse by masked man

DAYTON —

A 71-year-old woman said she was robbed of her purse by a man in a mask with shotgun.

The aggravated robbery occurred in the 200 block of Gramont Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim told police that she had just pulled into her driveway and was getting groceries out of the back of her truck when she heard a male voice say, “Give me your money.” She said she turned around and saw a man with a gun pointed at her.

She threw her purse at him, according to a Dayton Police report and he said, “Better be some money in here.” Then the man ran off.

The woman described the robber as a light-skinned black male, 25-30 years old, 6 feet tall, 165 pounds, with a thin build. He was reportedly wearing dark blue skinny jeans, a dark jacket with zipper, a dark scarf covering his face and a black toboggan hat.

A police dog was called to track the suspect and led police to the backyard of another house on Gramont, but no one was home.
