TIPP CITY, Ohio —

Firefighters in Tipp City were called Wednesday morning to a house fire after getting reports that flames were shooting through the roof.

The fire was reported just before 6:30 a.m. at 202 Bowman Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters said they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof over the garage.

Fire officials said the flames were contained to the attic over the garage and that there was no fire damage to the rest of the house. However, the rest of the house did suffer some smoke damage.

An investigator was called to the fire scene, but at this time, there is no indication of what started the fire.

Mutual aid was called and firefighters from West Milton responded; however, they were later released.

Fire officials said there were smoke detectors in the house, but it is not certain if that is what woke the residents up.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
