LEBANON, Ohio —

A funeral will be held today for the Lebanon soldier who was killed while serving his country in Afghanistan last week.

A funeral will be held for Sgt. First Class Bobby Lee Estle from at 11 a.m. today at the Cornerstone Church of God, 1004 Columbus Ave., in Lebanon.

Estle, 38, will be laid to rest in the Deerfield Cemetery on Shawhan Road in South Lebanon. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Stine Kilburn Funeral Home.

Estle was shot in the stomach and killed on July 29 when his unit was attacked with small arms fire in the Wardak Province of Afghanistan, according to Army reports.

Estle was a 1992 graduate of the Warren County Career Center. Estle served in the military for 20 years and was on his fourth tour of duty. He served two tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan. He was scheduled to return home on Oct. 22.

Estle is survived by his wife Monica, and three children, J.R. Marston, 20, Anthony Estle, 19, and Marieanna Estle, 12, a seventh- grader at Lebanon Junior High School; his parents Robert and Debra Howard; and brother Rob Howard.

Also killed was Pfc.  Jose Belmontes, 28, of La Verne, Calif. Both were with the 630th Engineer Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade.
