XENIA TOWNSHIP —
Neighbors woke up to flames shooting from a farmhouse at 1465 Foust Road Saturday morning.
“Within a matter of two or three minutes, just clouds of black smoke were pouring out of what looked like roof and windows” said neighbor Jon Venters.
Firefighters said the layout of the house made it difficult for them to douse the flames.
“The problem with fighting the fire was multiple addition” said Xenia Twp. Fire Capt. Roy Colburnn. “This added false ceilings and false walls and it created a lot of pockets where the fire could get a good start where we coudln’t get to it and fight it.”
The family escaped injury. The homeowner said that there was a fire in the fireplace before firefighters arrived.
The cause remains under investigation.
