A motorcyclist was killed in a high-speed collision with another vehicle at a busy Huber Heights intersection Saturday evening.

The crash occurred at about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Brandt Pike and Kitridge Road. The motorcyclist, whose name was not released Saturday evening, was pronounced dead at the scene. The car’s driver was taken to an area hospital with serious arm and head injuries, police said.

According to Huber Heights police, the motorcyclist was traveling south on Brandt at a very high rate of speed when a northbound car attempted to make a left turn onto Kitridge and passed into the path of the bike.

Huber Heights officer Aaron Harlow said the collision, which sent debris flying hundreds of yards across the intersection, was the worst he’s seen in more than a dozen years on the job. The impact shifted the car’s engine and cracked the dashboard.

Witnesses said the bike may have been going as fast as 90 mph at the time of the collision. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet or any other protective gear, police said.

“If he’s traveling 90 mph in a 35 zone, there is a good chance (the other driver) would never have seen him coming,” Harlow said.

Christina Palmer, of Huber Heights, was driving a short distance behind the motorcycle when the crash occurred.

“I said to my son, ‘Oh my God, look at him, he’s flying.’” She said the words no sooner left her mouth than the bike and car collided.

Several bystanders, including a physician, came to the aid of the two injured men. Palmer said the doctor performed CPR on the motorcyclist and was actually able to revive him for a short time, before he succumb to his injuries.

The intersection was closed for several hours while police and the Montgomery County Coroner investigated the crash.
