KETTERING — The former l’Auberge restaurant at 4120 Far Hills Ave. just west of Town & Country shopping center has a new owner — and its decades-long run as a restaurant appears to be over for good.

Covington, Ky.-based Anchor Corporate Developments, or Anchor Properties, purchased the property this week from based LCNB National Bank, which had foreclosed and taken possession of the one-acre property. The purchase price was $800,000, according to Montgomery County property records.

Douglas Hynden, co-founder of Anchor Properties, said Thursday that his firm has an agreement with another company that is interested in locating at the former l’Auberge site. Hynden said he could not disclose the identity of the company or the nature of the business, but did say the company’s interest is for “non-restaurant uses.” He declined to say whether plans call for the the existing restaurant building to be utilized or razed.

The property housed a restaurant of some sorts since at least the 1940s, when carhops served meals at the Yum Yum, later renamed the Yum Yum Inn. A restaurant called The Inn operated at the site through much of the 1970s, and l’Auberge opened in 1979, serving fine French cuisine until it closed its doors in February 2012.

The property was appraised in November 2011 for $888,000, according to Montgomery County court records.
