DAYTON —
Four people were arrested Thursday night in a Dayton Police Department drug unit raid on a house in the 3500 block of East Second Street prompted by complaints from neighbors.
Unit agents using a search warrant at 3517 E. Second St. found four to six grams of heroin and arrested four of the 14 people who were in the house, Sgt. John Sullivan, who heads the unit, told News Center 7.
One of those arrested had been sought on a warrant, the others were taken in on various drug-related charges that included possession, Sullivan said.
The drug unit descended on the house at about 9 p.m. and initially placed as many as 12 people in custody.
“It’s somewhat of a flop house,” Sullivan said, noting that an adult female resident has allowed people to use and sell drugs out of the house.
He said the address would be added to the city’s nuisance abatement program, which means the people will not be allowed to return to the address as the city will take steps to close down the house because of the drug use.
Drug investigations are based through the department’s drug hotline or the Crime Stopper tip line, (937) 333-DRUG or (937) 222-STOP, Sullivan said, noting that the unit focuses on complaints from neighborhoods.
