Antioch University has selected an executive from The New York Times Company to serve as its fifth chancellor.
Felice Nudelman, who has developed and implemented national and international education initiatives, will begin July 1 at the university’s offices in Yellow Springs.
“For both me and for Antioch, it’s an exciting and thrilling moment to be a new leader in education and to be at a university that really is poised now for growth,” Nudelman said.
Antioch University, with five campuses in four states and more than 4,000 adult students worldwide, was looking for a “leader who is innovative and can make the good ideas come to life quickly to benefit the entire institution,” said Lawrence Stone, chair of the board of governors.
Antioch College, an undergraduate liberal arts school also located in Yellow Springs, operates independently from the university.
Nudelman succeeds Tullisse Murdock, who announced her retirement in November effective June 30, after 15 years with the university, including seven years as university chancellor and eight years as president of the university’s Seattle branch.
As executive director of Education at the New York Times, Nudelman led the creation of the company’s Knowledge Network, which helps colleges and universities design and deliver e-Learning courses and certificates.
Nudelman received her bachelor’s degree in fine arts and philosophy from Allegheny (Pa.) College, a master’s degree in fine arts from the Pratt Institute, and is a 1995 graduate of the Harvard Management Development Program.
