WPAFB —

The Air Force Band of Flight is downsizing due to budget cuts and restructuring.

Officials at Wright Patterson Air Force Base said the local U.S. Air Force Band of Flight is one of many Air Force bands nationwide having to reduce its size. The number of members locally will go from 45 to 15 next year.

The Air Force of Band of Flight annual holiday concert held at the Dayton Masonic Center the past 25 years is set for this weekend. There will also be a concert at the National Museum of the USAF.

Air Force officials said even with the coming cuts, concerts are expected to continue but they will be significantly different than year’s past.

“They will be a challenge but we hope to provide a product that the Dayton Wright Patt community will embrace even in our smaller form,” said Tech. Sgt. Eric Knorr, USAF Band of Flight.

Tickets are still available for this weekend’s concerts. Visit http://www.bandofflight.af.mil/ for more information.
