Montgomery County Administrator Deborah Feldman is a candidate to become the new president and chief executive of The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, according to Cathy Petersen, spokeswoman for the county.

A news conference is planned for today at 2 p.m. said Petersen.

The current chief executive of Children’s Medical Center, David Kinsaul, plans to retire June 30. Kelly Kavanaugh, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said the board has been actively searching for a replacement.

Feldman was not at Tuesday’s county commission meeting and could not be reached for comment.

“My understanding is that she was a candidate and we will hold a press conference (today) regarding her candidacy,” said County Commission President Judy Dodge.

“I think she is a fine human being, a warm human being, just a wonderful individual,” said Dodge, who has known Feldman since the early 1980s.

Feldman, 53, earns $182,894 as county administrator and has held the job since 1997. She has worked for Montgomery County for 30 years, serving also as assistant administrator, human resources director, and a financial analyst in the office of management and budget.

Feldman has been active on a variety of community boards, including Central State University, Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton and the Downtown Dayton Partnership. Feldman also served on the Montgomery County Out-of-School Youth Task Force and the Homeless Solutions Leadership Team.

She is married to Bruce Feldman and they have two adult children.
