DAYTON —
One of two possible suspects in a shooting on East Third Street Saturday afternoon is being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
James Rowles, 42, was detained by police when he arrived at the scene of the shooting with blood on his pants and told police he lived at the address where a 21-year-old was shot several times.
The incident unfolded at about 3 p.m. on the 2400 block of East Third Street.
Dominique Mays told police that he was shot in the side and the hand when he tried to take a gun away from two men who tried to rob him inside a residence.
At Miami Valley Hospital, it was discovered that Mays had 25 gel capsules full of heroin and $624 in cash hidden in his sock. He could be facing felony drug charges. He was treated and released from the hospital on Saturday.
It’s unknown whether police have identified a second suspect in the case.
