Woman, great-granddaughter among Obama ticket-seekers

Christine Hedrick, of Dayton, was one of many who dealt with chilly temperatures and waited in long lines on Saturday to secure a ticket to see President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden speak in Triangle Park on Tuesday.

But she wasn’t alone. Hedrick brought her mother and two granddaughters with her. All four were successful in obtaining tickets at the Obama for America office on East 5th Street in Dayton.

When asked, she said Tuesday’s event is just “not something you get to do every day.

“I support the president,” she said.

Tuesday’s campaign rally will be Obama and Biden’s first together anywhere in the country this year. Triangle Park is located at 2500 Ridge Ave. in Dayton, near the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Attendees can start arriving at the park at 12:30 p.m. The event’s official start time has not been released.

Chetuan Paguas-Nixon, who worked in the Obama for America office on 5th Street, said everyone in her office is “excited this is happening.”

“So many people have come down and are moving this campaign forward,” she said.

Tickets were available starting Saturday at the following locations:

* Dayton Office, 411 East 5th Street.

* Trotwood Office, 4815 Salem Avenue.

* Vandalia Office, 7250 Poe Avenue.

* Beavercreek Office, 1337 Hanes Road.

* Centerville Office, 679 Lyons Road.
