I-675, Ohio 235 and Ohio 444 development to be studied

Officials from several towns will collaborate on a plan to develop the Interstate 675 corridor to be submitted to the state by the end of the year.

The study will focus on development between I-675 and Ohio 235, Ohio 444 and I-70, said Clark County Community Development Director Tom Hale.

Because the corridor crosses county lines, representatives from Clark and Greene counties are working on the project, as well as the City of Fairborn and Bath and Mad River townships, Hale said.

“We’re jointly putting this together to say, ‘Here’s the target and here’s what everybody would like to see,” he said.

There has been interest in developing the study for a few years and with the completion of the Fairfield Pike interchange, officials thought it was time to move ahead.

It has not been decided how much will be spent on the study or whether an outside consulting firm will be hired to conduct the study.

The first public meeting about the study was held last week.

Marie Webb, a senior planner with Clark County Community Development Department said the meeting was positive.

She said that the committee will meet monthly and more public meetings will be scheduled.

Hale said landowners he’s talked to have been cautiously optimistic.

“Public input is encouraged,” he added.
