Alabama Capital, a band founded by pair of Lebanon twins was recently voted as the Midwest Finalist in a nationwide contest that could have landed them a trip to the Grammys, but they fell short when they didn’t grab enough fan votes.

Caleb and Nathan Montgomery make up Alabama Capital. They are homeschooled and say that has given them time to practice and the flexibility to travel.

“Our family is very musical, so this is a natural thing for us,” said Nathan Montgomery. “We formed Alabama Capital about a year ago and developed a huge Internet following that is still growing. Through that, we’ve been able to do a lot of amazing things. One example of that is the Grammy contest. It’s a tremendous opportunity.”

Voting began on January 10. Alabama Capital won the Midwest voting and then vied to be the national winner. But another group was named the winner on Jan. 29. The winner got to perform at pre-Grammy festivities.

Caleb said he and his brother were still grateful.

“At a very young age, we’ve had the dream and the vision of going to the Grammys and winning one. That is what we are working toward and we believe that is going to happen by staying true to ourselves and making music we love,” he said.

The pair has appeared on the Cincinnality show, hosted by Blessid Union of Souls founding member Tony Clark.

“This means a lot and it says a great deal about the quality of their musicianship,” Clark said. “The Midwest should be proud of them.”
