Light snow in northern valley has ended

By News Staff

Other than reports of “a few stray flakes,” the batch of light snow expected to slide across the northern Miami Valley and affect areas north of U.S. 36 has ended, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said Tuesday night.

Facebook and Twitter fans and followers submitted reports of a coating of snow in Mercer, Auglaize, Shelby and Logan counties, he said at about 9 p.m.

For the remainder of Tuesday night, Simpson said, look for clouds and temperatures falling back into the low 20s by morning. Those clouds will give way to more sun through the day on Wednesday with afternoon highs at about freezing.

Thursday will start with some sun, but clouds will increase as warmer air arrives.

“We’ll climb from the low to mid 20s into the mid 40s in the afternoon, then see some rain showers arrive in the evening,” Simpson said.

As temperatures fall overnight Thursday into Friday, that rain may end as a few light snow showers before sunrise.

Friday’s high will be in the mid-30s. Saturday will be sunny, but will start with temperatures in the 20s that will climb to about 40 degrees in the afternoon.

Look for an even warmer Sunday, with a start around 30 degrees and highs in the mid to upper 40s.
