Little Miami school bus involved in accident

MORROW —

No injuries have been reported after a Little Miami school bus swerved into a ditch to avoid an oncoming car Friday morning.

The one-vehicle accident happened on Whitacre Road this morning while the bus was on its regular route to Harlan-Butlerville Primary School at around 8:30 a.m.

Four first- and second-grade students were on the bus at the time of the accident and none were injured, according to district officials.

Bus No. 24 went off the right side of the road after the driver took action to avoid an oncoming vehicle encroaching on the center line. The bus went into the ditch and then came back onto the roadway where it was stopped. The bus sustained some damage, including a mirror that was broken when it made contact with a small tree.

Three students were released to their parents and were taken to school. The fourth student was verbally released to school officials and was transported to school by Principal Pam Coates.

Harlan Twp. emergency services personnel were dispatched to scene and reported that no one required medical treatment. The Ohio State Patrol is investigating the accident.
