Man, 19, accused of having sex with girl, 14

MOOREFIELD TWP. —

A 19-year-old Springfield man is in the Clark County Jail on a charge accusing him of engaging in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl.

Caleb Stevens, 1433 N. Lowry Ave., was arrested Friday at the county sheriff’s office after he offered statements to investigators regarding his involvement with the juvenile on Sept. 29, according to the sheriff’s office. Stevens was booked into the jail on a charge of felony corruption of a minor. His initial appearance is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 26.

According to the preliminary investigation, Stevens is an acquaintance of the girl, sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Elliott told News Center 7.

The sheriff’s office communication center on Nov. 2 received a complaint from the girl’s father, advising that his daughter had engaged in sexual conduct with an adult on Sept. 29.

Deputies investigated the claim, which led them to Stevens. They went to his home on Friday and brought him in for questioning, where he admitted to detectives that he had sexual contact with the girl on the date in question.

The conduct, which Elliott said involved sexual intercourse, occurred one time, according to the sheriff’s investigators.
