Motorcycle crash closes I-75 for hours

DAYTON – All lanes of southbound Interstate 75 were closed for several hours Friday night at the Wagner Ford exit after a motorcycle crash that sent the rider to the hospital.

Dayton police are investigating what caused the motorcyclist to lose control and strike the concrete barrier about 7:25 p.m. Friday.

Lt. Kenneth Beall said it does not appear any other cars struck the motorcycle, and it was not raining at the time of the accident.

“We don’t really know what speed he was going,” Beall said.

He said the rider was able to lay the bike down and slide a distance. He was not wearing a helmet and was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The interstate remained closed until after 11 p.m. while traffic investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence.
