Rain and cooler temps on the way

MIAMI VALLEY —

The Miami Valley will stay mainly clear through midnight and lose the breeze a bit this evening as temperatures will fall through the 50s and into the upper 40s by midnight. Overnight lows will not be as chilly because more clouds will be arriving in the area overnight along with a light southwest breeze ahead of a cold front, said Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

That cold front, which will come through Wednesday morning, will bring with it scattered showers. Rainfall will be fairly light, but looks to coincide with the commute. Simpson said rain will be to the east by noon and sunshine will return gradually by the latter half of the afternoon.

Look for cooler temperatures behind the cold front with the high expected to be in the mid 50s. Wednesday night is another great setup for falling temperatures and frost as evening skies in the Miami Valley will be clear and winds will be nearly calm overnight.

A freeze watch has been issued for overnight Wednesday into Thursday for Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, and Clinton counties.

Thursday plays out with abundant sunshine and temperatures recovering nicely to about 60 in the afternoon. Friday will offer the chance for a few early showers then more sun by end of the day.

There is good news and bad news for the weekend, Simpson said. The good is more warmth on Saturday and Sunday, with highs about 70. The bad news is that there will be rain at times on Sunday.
