A South Charleston man died early Saturday in a one-vehicle accident in Greene County.

Eben Wildman, 20, was traveling west on State Route 343 just east of Ohio 370 in Miami Township around 3:30 a.m. when his car traveled off the right side of the roadway, according to the Xenia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He over corrected, lost control and the vehicle slid off the left side of the road. The vehicle struck a ditch, overturned, and collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his seat belt, according to OSHP Lt. Marty Fellure.

Wildman is the son of Clark County attorney Austin Wildman and former South Charleston Village Manager, Sarah Wildman.

Eben Wildman was an “unbelievable kid” and great all around leader, his high school football coach remembers.

“He was one of those kids that always does the right things, always helps others,” said Greg Bonifay, Southeastern High School head football coach. “He always had a smile on his face.”

The former high school running back and linebacker graduated in 2009 and was a sophomore at Miami University. His death will be a hard blow to the close-knit Southeastern community, Bonifay said.

“I’m sure that anyone you talk to will say the same thing about him... He was an all around great kid and model student,” he said. “He had everything going for him.”

The crash remains under investigation.
