Bellbrook native Chris Tesar has lived in many parts of the United States. That tradition will continue as Tesar, who recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a history degree, is now a member of the U.S. Air Force.

Tesar, 23, is a 2nd lieutenant who will start pilot training in March at Columbus Air Force Base, in Mississippi.

His goal is to fly F-15Es at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina.

“I’m really proud of what I’m doing and glad I’ve gotten all the opportunities that allowed me to get where I am,” Tesar said. “It has been a long road.”

Tesar will be returning to the area in December to visit with family. His parents, John and Diane Tesar, still live in the area. Tesar is the oldest of four. Younger brother Drew is also in the Air Force, serving in Italy.

“I love it there,” he said. “I like how Bellbrook is off the beaten path.”

Branch of service, rank, years in service: U.S. Air Force, 2nd Lt., almost seven months of service

How person got involved in the military: “I did ROTC at North Carolina State University. I decided in high school that I wanted to be in the military; my dad was in the Air Force for 22 years. I’m really glad I did it; I couldn’t ask for a better job.”

What actions he performed: “I’m a student pilot. Right now I am basically a student, and I prepare for flight simulators and regular flights.”

Most satisfying part about the person’s work: “Knowing that I’m flying for one of the world’s greatest air forces, and I will help people one day.”
