Thieves steal customer’s car from auto shop

DAYTON —

Dayton police are looking for one or more subjects who robbed a residence and auto shop on Avondale Drive in Dayton overnight.

One of the shop owners lives in the front of the shop and arrived home this morning to discover that someone had broken into the shop and his residence.

Tools, car parts, six bicycles and keys to numerous cars were taken from the shop while food, clothing, a TV and laptop were taken from his personal property.

According to a Dayton Police incident report, the burglars pried open a back door to the shop. They loaded a bunch of the stolen goods into the trunk of a Pontiac Grand Prix that was in the shop, but didn’t take that vehicle.

They did steal a Chrysler Sebring that a customer had brought in for brake work.

That vehicle was recovered Wednesday morning after it was discovered that police towed it for a parking violation at about 5 a.m. from Stanley Avenue. Inside, officers found more of the stolen goods.

The stolen bikes were all recovered from some bushes nearby the shop.

There are no descriptions of the suspects at this time.
