DAYTON —

Two people were arrested after a shots fired call in the 800 block of Bedford Avenue Tuesday night.

Two different groups of men fired shots at houses on the street leaving two homes with bullet holes in them, according to police reports.

Antwone J. Valentine, 21, was arrested on suspicion of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and Joshua R. Kirkland, 24, was arrested on suspicion of felony carrying a concealed weapon. Two other individuals are still being sought by police.

Police were called by female residents around 8:30 p.m. who said two men had fired shots at them, hitting the house instead. According to a Dayton police report, the woman knew the two men who fired at them by name and said they had been driving a green vehicle and a red van.

While on scene, on officer reported hearing more gunshots and noticed a flash coming from a gold Chevy Malibu driving north of Bedford. The officer had to take cover behind a cruiser because it was unclear who or what the passenger in the Malibu was shooting at. One bullet struck a house.

Police located the gold Malibu on nearby Clarkson Ave. and apprehended Valentine and Kirkland. The men denied having anything to do with a shooting, according to the report.

Lt. Wendy Stiver said Wednesday that it was determined later that Valentine and Kirkland were friends of the females on Bedford and went after the original shooters in their car. Valentine was allegedly firing off a gun randomly when police saw him.

Police found a loaded .380 semi-automatic pistol on Kirkland. Both men were booked into the Montgomery County Jail and are due in court Thursday afternoon.

The two men who originally fired on the house have not been located.
