Two children hurt in Warren County crash

WAYNESVILLE —

Two children were flown via Careflight to Dayton Children’s Hospital at 2:47pm after a two vehicle crash on State Route 73 and North Clarksville Road in Waynesville about 2:30 Sunday afternoon.

State troopers said that a Dodge Stratus failed to yield when turning from State Route 73 onto Clarksville Road. The Stratus was hit by a pick-up truck. The truck went off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail.

The two children, a male 10 years old and a female 12 years old, were trapped in the backseat of the Stratus and had to be extricated.

The driver of the Stratus, Sharon Rinckel, 52, of Midland, Ohio, and her passenger, Erica Roehm, 34, of Wilmington were transported to Miami Valley Hospital. The other driver was not injured.

Troopers say that alcohol and speed do not appear to be factor in the crash.

The accident is under investigation.
