Man with gun attempts to rob restaurant

By Brian Blake

DAYTON —

A man attempted to rob the Church’s Chicken at 2443 N. Gettysburg Ave. Wednesday evening, but left without any cash. This was the second robbery incident at a Church’s Chicken location in Dayton this week.

According to a Dayton Police incident report, an employee called the police and stated a male was in the lobby with a shotgun at about 8:20 p.m.

The cook told police that a black male came into the business and kicked on the door that leads from the lobby into the kitchen. One of the cooks say he looked out of the peep hole and saw the male pointing a shotgun at him.

They were unable to tell what way the suspect fled after leaving out the front door. The cook stated that he could not see the man’s face because it was covered up.

Police said that the business does have cameras but only in the kitchen. They called an evidence technician to check for finger prints at the scene.

The Church’s Chicken on North Broadway Street was robbed at gunpoint on Monday night. In that incident, the robbers got away with cash and several employees’ cell phones.
